From Sick Care to Health Care: The Advantages of Preventive Astro-Herbalism

Elevating the everyday is our mission. At Belovedsaffron.com, we think the world deserves more than conventional cuisines — and more than take-out from chains. Our goal is to celebrate cultural flavours through spices, herbs and organic food from sustainable farming.

Saffron is our love affair; a culinary crescendo that evokes a warmth of its own. But cooking is so much more than a single ingredient — it’s also about respect. It’s about respecting people from different cultures who dedicate their lives to creating something extraordinary with every dish they serve; family meals or five-star restaurants alike.

And that’s why we’re inviting everyone to join us – to share their recipes, explore new flavors and be part of something special. We know everyone has something delicious to offer!

For now, love yourself and enjoy this one ...

The current healthcare system is focused on treating disease once it occurs, rather than preventing it from happening.

Holistic herbalism, which emphasizes disease prevention, can also be used as a wellness-first approach. It can be used to address predispositions for disease and correct imbalances in order to prevent their onset.

Astro-Herbalism is one of my favourite tools to help me do this. You can make healthcare more holistic by shifting your focus away from managing disease to preventing it.

Today's blog post will teach you

  • Why not being sick and being healthy are not the same
  • The 5 Roots of Health and How They Correspond to the Elements
  • Understanding the constitution is an important part of holistic herbalism
  • What is vitalism and how it affects your health
  • Use the natal chart to assess your child's potential

How would healthcare change if it were based on wellness and not sickness?

It is possible to see the differences between working with an holistic and allopathic practitioner by understanding what they look like.

Patients usually see their doctor when there are new symptoms or an increase in intensity. The typical encounter between doctor and patient lasts just a few minutes. They then give you a new prescription or dosage.

Although managing disease is an important part of restoring health, it is only half. Preventing disease from happening is the other half. It is possible to create wellness through lifestyle changes that will replenish your vitality and increase your energy.

Preventative medicine is the one area where herbalism excels. It doesn't focus on reducing disease. Instead, it works to strengthen your health by addressing disease risk factors and correcting imbalances so that disease does not occur.

Health Not Being Sick

People who lead high-stress lives, are poor eaters and sleep little often tell me that they don't have to change anything. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are healthy. That is an important distinction.

Being healthy and not being sick are two completely different things. Many people fall into unhealthy patterns that lead to illness. Examples include drinking alcohol regularly, feeling chronically tired, and sleeping for 5 hours per night. Others include eating foods that their bodies can't handle and experiencing bloating or indigestion.

Even though it may not happen immediately, the daily habits can build up and make you more vulnerable to illness and disease. Furthermore, even if you are not sick, can you imagine how much more vitality you would feel if you woke up feeling refreshed for the day, digested your food well, had regular bowel movements, and felt energized?Ultimately, this is the goal of preventive medicine. You can prevent disease from happening by changing your lifestyle. This will help you live a healthier, happier life. The holistic herbal practitioner's role is to help you on your path to better health. You can work together to develop healthy habits that will improve your health and resilience. This will ultimately lead you to feeling better on all levels.

Five Roots of Holistic Medicine

As I thought about the main determinants of health, they inspired me to distill them into what I consider the essential elements of a healthy lifestyle. Each one of these roots corresponds with one of the Five Elements: Earth water air fire and air.

The Earth Element is related to your diet and nutrient intake. It is the foundation upon which all of your health rests. You need adequate nutrition to stay healthy, just as a plant needs good soil to grow.

The Water Elements are next. They correspond to hydration. To function properly, your tissues and organs require adequate hydration. Hypofunctioning patterns (atrophy), can occur when they are too dry. Water and healthy oils are essential for keeping your body hydrated.

The Air Element is related to your sleep quality and psychological health. The Air Element is a key element in astrology. It governs the intellect and mind. This category includes everything you can do for your mental health, including sleep.

This Element, like Fire, represents movement. This Element is essential for exercising (in any form), moving your body and stimulating your metabolic processes.

Ether is the last element, and it connects to your life purpose. A sense of purpose and a connection to something greater than yourself are essential parts of living a healthy lifestyle.

You can build a strong foundation for your mental, physical, and emotional health by focusing on these five roots. This is nothing new. We all know that we need to eat better, exercise more and drink more water. But, relating these elements back to the elements gives us a deeper understanding of why they are so important. These are essential for herbal practitioners.

The Constitutional Key to Preventative Medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and Hippocratic medicines are all united by their use of energetic systems to understand the constitution.

Preventive medicine is all about understanding the constitution. It gives you an insight into your client’s unique physiological tendencies and predispositions to disease. You can also use the 5 roots of Health above, along with gentle herbal remedies, to help maintain their unique balance.

People with a cold constitution are more susceptible to lethargy, low energy, poor digestion and cold extremities. The opposite is true for people with a hot constitution. They are more alert and have a faster metabolism, so they can absorb nutrients too quickly. This causes them to burn out. Both types of people need completely different lifestyles, habits, and foods to maintain their health and prevent illness. Preventive medicine is not a one-size fits all approach, as the constitution clearly shows. Each person's needs are met with a unique, customized approach.

Knowing your client's constitution will help you determine what they need in order to achieve balance. Warming spices, exercise, and well-cooked food would be beneficial to someone with cold undertones. A client with a hot constitution might need cooling herbs and gentle exercise.

Constitution also explains that not all herbs work for everyone. If you have five clients who have a cough, each client may require a different herbal remedy based on their underlying energetics. This could be due to the fact that the cough is damp, dry, hot or cold. You can achieve more consistency by choosing an herbal formula that is based on the unique constitution of your clients and their underlying energetics.

You can see that the type of herbs and the diet and exercise recommendations you make will vary depending on your client's underlying constitution energetics. The constitutional perspective is not about recommending a one-size-fits all approach to diet, exercise and rest. It recognizes that everyone has different needs. Instead of trying to make them fit the world's standards, you create their environment to meet their needs.

Vitalist Signs

Your body is telling your something. Are you listening?

People often try to suppress their symptoms when they get sick. You might try an antacid for heartburn, an NSAID to relieve headaches, or Pepto Bismol for nausea. Although over-the-counter medications have their place, it is important to ask yourself why you aren't feeling well before you reach out for them.

As a herbal practitioner, take the time to learn about your client's underlying causes and how they are affected by them. You should be able find the pattern and recommend a herbal remedy to address it by conducting effective intake.

Each symptom in the vitalist healing approach is a signal that points you to a bigger pattern of imbalance. These vitalist signals can be a great way to find out what isn’t working for your body.

Heartburn is a common reaction to fried foods. This is a clue. If you spend time with a certain circle of friends, your blood pressure will rise. Another clue. This is another clue. Your body is on your side. Learn to listen and work with your body instead of against it to see miracles in your health.

Motherwort (Leonurus coronaria)

Astrology: A Snapshot Of Your Health

Medical astrology is one way to better understand the unique diseases and constitutions of your clients.

The natal chart is an important tool in this process. It provides a snapshot of the archetypal and planetary forces that were present at the time your client was born. This information can be used to extrapolate the client's constitution, disease potentials, organ system strengths, and weaknesses and much more.

If your client is born with Saturn in Leo, it's possible to interpret this as follows: You already know that Saturn is the planet force of constriction. This means you can see if there is stagnation or restriction to the flow of vitality. Saturn is also cold and dry in terms of energy. Next comes Leo, the zodiac sign which rules the heartbeat and circulatory system. Leo loves to be the center of attention and show their emotions. The sixth house governs health and daily living.

This could indicate a potential predisposition for cardiovascular problems. There could be constrictions of blood flow to the heart, cold circulation or a tense, anxious heart. This could also indicate a predisposition to myocardial damage. This information should be used with caution and the way they approach clients to avoid putting fear in their hearts or diagnosing without a license. You can then focus your efforts on formulas that strengthen the heart and vasculature. You might recommend Hawthorn (Crataegus species) to strengthen the heart, vasculature, Linden, Tilia x Europaea, or Motherwort (Leonurus cardinala) to relax tension within the cardiovascular system, as well as Ginger (Zingiberofficinale) and Cayenne Capsicum Annuum to promote healthy blood circulation.

These placements could also indicate that your client feels stuck (Saturn), or is having trouble expressing themselves creatively (Leo). The latter is more serious but it's important to remember that the whole body benefits from supporting the emotional heart. According to medical astrology and medical alchemy, issues in the spirit, mind or emotions can eventually trickle down to affect the physical body.

The three dimensions of health are physical, psychological, as well as spiritual. You will not be fully healthy if any of these areas is neglected. Medical astrology allows you to understand the whole person and then weaves them together so that you can create an herbal remedy.

You can also use the natal charts in medical astrology to identify areas of excess or deficiencies. You can help your client reduce inflammation or excess activity in their organs by using herbs. You can also increase activity and vitality in the system that you are evaluating.

No matter how you integrate the natal chart into your practice as an assessment tool, medical astrology gives you a complete map of the whole body and tells you how to use plants to prevent future diseases.

True Health

It's not about being healthy. It refers to your physical vitality, ability to feel energized, and alive. You feel healthy when your mind is clear and your heart is open. Your health will be better if you live in alignment with your true purpose. You can become depleted if you don't live in alignment with your true purpose and who you are.

Preventative medicine means getting to know yourself. Understanding your unique diseases, organ system strengths, weaknesses and lifestyle habits can help you to be well.

Medical astrology is one of the most important systems to do this. The natal chart can help you discover your core innate patterns, and allow you to lead a healthier lifestyle. I hope the future of herbalism, general medicine, and other holistic therapies will be proactive. You can prevent disease by living a healthy lifestyle that supports your mental, physical, and emotional health every day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you make medicinal herbs?

There are many different methods to make herbs into medicinal products. The most common method is to dry the herbs in a warm, dark location before grinding them into a powder or extracting their essential oils. This can be accomplished by hanging herbs upside down in bunches, laying herbs on a drying screen, or using a food dehydrator.

Once dried and ground, herbs can be stored in airtight containers for future use. Other herbs may require special preparation, such as infusing herbs into oil or vinegar, making tinctures with alcohol, or distilling herbs to create essential oils.

Learning the correct techniques for preparing herbs can help ensure that they retain their medicinal properties and potency for optimal health benefits. Using fresh herbs is usually best, but herbs can also be grown in a pot or garden and harvested when they are mature. Herbs can be purchased at health food stores, online retailers, and specialty shops.

No matter where herbs come from, the preparation techniques remain the same; drying herbs in a warm location followed by grinding or extracting the essential oils. You can make your medicinal herbs with the right herbs and preparation techniques.

When making herbal preparations, it is essential to remember that herbs can vary in potency, so always dilute herbs before use or follow the directions on any product label. Additionally, herbs are best used fresh, as many of their beneficial components degrade over time.

Following safety guidelines and paying attention to the potency of herbs can help ensure that you get the most benefit from your herbs. With a bit of practice and preparation, anyone can make therapeutic herbs with medicinal properties. Remember that herbs should never replace any medical advice or treatments prescribed by a doctor. Always consult a licensed healthcare professional before using herbs medicinally.

What is the difference between basil and oregano?

Both of these herbs belong to the Lamiaceae family. They share similar flavors, but the differences are obvious.

Oregano is more pungent than basil. It also adds an extra layer of flavor to foods.

Basil leaves are smaller than oregano leaves. They are also softer and less aromatic.

The two herbs are often used interchangeably. Although they are quite similar, each has its distinctive qualities.

What is the difference between "regular" and smoked paprika powder?

Regular Paprika Powder (Piment d'Espelette) is an essential ingredient for our recipes. We use it for its intense flavor and color. It's also used as a spice and seasoning agent. Smoked Paprika Powder (Paprika Chorizo) adds a smoky taste and aroma to dishes. Both types of Paprika Powder come from Spain, where they grow the best peppers in the world.

Smoked Paprika Powder (Chorizo Paprika) is made from red peppers, which are dried slowly in special ovens. This gives them a rich flavor. They are then ground and mixed with salt, garlic, and spices.

Regular Paprika Powder (Espelette Paprika) is made by grinding green bell peppers without additives.

How is basil used for medicinal purposes?

In ancient times, doctors would prescribe basil leaves to treat colds and coughs. Today, basil contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties, making it an ideal remedy for arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, eczema, gout, hay fever, indigestion, migraines, menstrual cramps, sinus infections, sore throats, ulcers, varicose veins, and more.

Basil is also known for its ability to help protect against cancer, heart disease, diabetes, skin conditions, and even aging.

Basil is often referred to as "the herb of grace" because it helps us relax and unwind after stressful situations. It is also said to improve memory and concentration, boost energy levels, increase libido, and enhance athletic performance.

The list goes on and on. Basil is a versatile plant that offers a wide range of benefits for our health and well-being.

Why do some love coriander and others don't?

Some people hate coriander, while others love it. But why?

Coriander is an herb that grows in warm climates throughout the world. It is native to both North America and Europe.

The leaves of the plant are used in cooking and can also be found in condiments such as salad dressings and dips. When added to food, coriander provides a spicy flavor.

Many people love its taste because it adds a fresh flavor to dishes without overpowering them. Others dislike the smell and taste of coriander because they find it too strong.

But there is more to coriander than meets the eye. There are two types of coriander – sweet and hot. Sweet coriander is milder and sweeter tasting compared to hot coriander.

Sweet coriander is usually grown for its seeds, often called cilantro. This type of coriander is easy to grow and is very low maintenance.

Hot coriander is most commonly used in Indian cuisine. Hot coriander gives a rich flavor to curries and sauces, making it popular among Indians.

Some people say that hot coriander tastes better than sweet coriander. However, the opposite is true for those who prefer sweet coriander.

There are many reasons why people enjoy different varieties of coriander. For example, one person may love the taste of coriander, while another enjoys the aroma.

Whether you like sweet or hot coriander, you might be surprised to learn that you can buy both types of coriander online.

How To

How do I know if my herbs have been treated with pesticides?

If you see a pesticide label on your herbs, the plants were sprayed with chemicals before being sold to you.

These chemicals harm human health and could cause cancer or other serious illnesses.

Unfortunately, this practice has become common around the globe. Many countries allow farmers to spray their crops with pesticides without proper regulation.

In order not to harm themselves, consumers should always ask about the source of their produce. If it comes from a farmer near you, it’s safe to assume it was not treated with pesticides.

However, there are still ways to ensure that your herbs are free from harmful chemicals.

However, if you want to ensure that your herbs aren’t contaminated, you can purchase organic herbs directly from the farm.

This way, you won’t need to worry about the safety of your herbs. You can trust that they weren’t exposed to harmful chemicals.
